Privacy details
This page adds to our Privacy Policy and explains the specific tools we use, your California privacy rights, and how our virtual try-on handles your camera. Last updated October 27, 2026.
Cookies, analytics and advertising tools we use
Besides Shopify's own store analytics, our site uses these third-party tools:
- Google (Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager) to measure visits and advertising results.
- Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our pages. Clarity records page interactions such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement (a "session replay") so we can find and fix problems. Clarity masks text you type into form fields, and checkout and payment pages are hosted by Shopify and not recorded by Clarity.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Pinterest, Reddit and TikTok advertising pixels, to measure our ads and show our ads to people who visited our site.
- Judge.me to collect and display product reviews.
Where the law requires it, these tools run only after you agree through our cookie banner. You can change your choices at any time with the "Your privacy choices" link at the bottom of every page. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
Notice to California residents
In the last 12 months we have collected identifiers and contact details (such as name, email, phone, shipping and billing address), commercial information (orders and returns), internet or device activity (pages viewed, clicks, device and browser data, approximate location from IP address) and inferences drawn from them. We use them to fulfil orders, provide customer service, run and secure the site, and market our products.
We do not sell personal information for money. Allowing the advertising pixels listed above to collect browsing activity for targeted advertising can count as "selling" or "sharing" under California law. You can opt out with the "Your privacy choices" link or by enabling GPC. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
California residents may request to know, access, correct or delete their personal information, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. To make a request, email pointwestcontact@gmail.com. We will verify your request by matching it to information we hold, and you may use an authorized agent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including order records kept for tax and accounting.
Virtual try-on
Our virtual try-on uses your device's camera to show jewelry on your ear or hand at its true size. It starts only after you tap the start-camera button, which confirms you agree to this notice, and your browser grants camera permission, and closing it turns the camera off.
- Lining up happens on your device. While you aim the camera, face, ear or hand tracking runs only in your browser. The live video is never sent to us or recorded.
- Your try-on photo. When you take the photo, that one photo is sent securely (HTTPS) to our own try-on server, passing through Cloudflare's network in transit. The server locates the points on your face, ear or hand needed to place and size the jewelry, returns the result to your screen, and deletes the photo immediately. The full photo is never saved.
- No biometric data kept. We do not store, share, sell or use the photo or any face, ear, hand or other measurements (biometric identifiers) to identify you. Apart from an optional picture you choose to send with a problem report (below), nothing from your photo is kept after your result is returned.
- Try-on usage statistics. To see whether the try-on works and helps, our try-on server keeps step-by-step usage records: for example, that the try-on was opened, the camera was allowed or blocked, a photo was taken, whether placement worked (and why not), processing time, the product and size chosen, and where someone stopped. These records use a random per-visit code and a scrambled (one-way hashed) code made from your IP address and browser, used only to count unique visitors. Our server log also records your IP address and the page address. None of these records contain images or face, ear or hand measurements.
- Reporting a problem (optional). If you tap the "Report a problem" flag button on your result, we receive the reason you pick, any note you type (up to 500 characters), the product and size, where the jewelry was placed, and the same visit codes described above. Only for "Not in the right spot" or "Wrong size" can you choose "Send with picture" instead of "Send without picture". With a picture, we keep a square picture cut from your try-on result, with the try-on jewelry drawn on it, centred on where the jewelry was placed and reaching about 56 mm (2.2 in) in each direction, so about 11 cm (4.5 in) across. For earrings it shows your ear and the area around it and may include part of your cheek, jaw or hair; for rings it shows your hand around the ring. It is never your full photo. The picture is re-encoded on our server with its file details (metadata) removed and is stored at up to 800 pixels. These pictures and notes are deleted automatically after 90 days at the latest; only the count of report reasons is kept for statistics. Reports are seen only by us, on a private page, to fix placement and sizing, and are never shared with third parties, sold, or used to identify you.
- Orders after a try-on. When you open the try-on, your cart is marked with the product you tried, so if you then place an order we can see that it followed a try-on (order number, time, total and whether it included the tried product). This helps us measure whether the try-on is useful.
- Other services. The try-on loads program code from a public code library (jsDelivr), which never receives your images. Our analytics and advertising tools do not run on the try-on pages, and no images are saved in your browser.
- The try-on is not intended for children under 13.
